The AquaTru Classic is the most comprehensively certified countertop reverse osmosis system on the market. Its NSF-42 and NSF-53 certifications cover 84 specific contaminants — including PFAS/PFOS, lead, chromium-6, fluoride, arsenic, chlorine, chloramines, herbicides, and pharmaceuticals. That breadth of independent, third-party certification is unmatched in the countertop category.

Unlike under-sink RO systems, the AquaTru requires zero plumbing. You fill the rear tank with tap water and it forces water through four filtration stages including a semi-permeable RO membrane. The result: 99.8% TDS removal and independently verified removal of the contaminants most relevant to Mediterranean households.

The trade-off is waste water. The Classic operates at a 4:1 waste ratio (4 litres discarded per 1 litre filtered) — acceptable for drinking water, but worth noting. Filtration speed is around 0.5 litres per hour. This is a drinking water solution, not a whole-kitchen system.
